All GST / TII Gradings are finished. In 2006 GST had its largest Colour Belt exams to date, with every GST Club in both West Cork, Cork & Waterford Examined! Gradings were conducted by Mr. Brian Buckley 6th Dan with the assistance of Mr. Dan O'Mahony 4th Dan & Mr. Henry Steel 3rd Dan. Congradulations to all Students.
Also Congradulations to the 100+ Students who attend Squad Training every Sunday Morning, your Commitment & Hard work has been amazing this year!

GST Students have started Fundraising to help them travel to Holland in Jan 2007,
Yesterday 11 GST Students raised over €1500.
A Squad of over 50 will be traveling to the Dutch open.

TAE KWON-DO INTERNATIONAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
this competition is the biggest Tae Kwon-Do Event in the World, with more participants then any other Tae Kwon-Do World Championships. And as its run by Tae Kwon-Do International you can only expect the higest quaility Competetiors in the World. This tournament is a most for any true Tae Kwon-Do Competitor. As always entry to this event is throught Great Southern Tae Kwon-Do ONLY!

GST Instructors Mr.Darren Buckley, Mr. Ross McBride & Mr. Michael Kelly complete course in Sports Medicine 1st Aid & are Certified in said Course.
Sports Medicine Ireland's course on Sports First Aid and Injury Management is the leading course of its type in the world, currently being presented in 13 countries and available in 8 langauges.
The course included:
Soft tissue injury management, ankle sprains, cruciate ligament injury, knee cartilage tears, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injury, low back pain, foreign body in the eye, corneal abrasions, detached retina, blow-out fractures, burst eardrum, dental fractures, tooth avulsions, nosebleed, nasal fractures, laryngeal trauma, concussion, dislocations to shoulder, elbow, finger, hip, knee and jaw, AC & SC joint sprains, fractures to forearm, finger, metacarpal, femur, hip, tibia, ankle, toe, rib, and skull, external and internal haemorrhage, spinal injury, injuries to the kidney, liver, spleen, testicular trauma, body piercing and sport, heart attack, cardiac arrest, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, diabetes, epilepsy and asthma.
GST will have the privilage of having Dr. Goggin present this course to all its Instructors & Students in March '07!

GST is proud to announce we will be traveling to 2 prestigious tournaments ( more Tournaments to be confirmed) in the '06 - '07, 1st off we are traveling to the T.A.G.B British Championships in Nov, last year GST entered a Mixed Squad of 8 Competitors coming home with 6 Trophy's (1,800 entered the Competition in Total)and 2nd we will Travel yet again to Eindhoven Holland for the 5th Time in recent Years, always a great Trip! Great Southern Tae Kwon-Do is proud to present Lismore's 1st Black Belt. Mary Prendergast jioned GST when the club 1st opened over 3years ago. Mary travelled over 40mins every Sunday for a year to GST Squad training and her deadication has been rewarded after passing her Black Belt under Master D.K Oliver in May '06.

Great Southern Tae Kwon-Do Cobh Students recently finished
their Summer Grading's, The Adult Class graded first, then the Cobh Students
who recently went for Black Belt under Master Oliver were presented with there
Black Belts, congratulations to all, the grading finished off with the younger

Ireland will travel to the TAGB Scottish Championships which are been held
on the 9th of Sept. Places are now available to be booked through your GST
Instructor, after the success in the TAGB Northern Ireland Championships GST
will be looking to for to another great competition.

GST brought a group of 41 people of which 31 were Competitors
to Belfast for the TAGB Northern Ireland Championships on the 24th June 06.
We left on Friday the 23th and began our journey to the North, the bus journey
took 7+ hours, Saturday morning we traveled to Lisburn to the Arena in which
the TAGB NI TKD Championships were being held,the event kicked off at 10am,
the tournnament was a great success with over 400 Competitors and as with
all TAGB (TKD INTERNATIONAL) Tournaments ran like clockwork,which meant the
tournament was over before 3pm!
Out of 31 Competitors GST returned home Sunday afternoon with 33 Medals, Congradulations
to all and thanks for another great trip!

Ireland, all Students Placed for a chance to go to the WKA World Championships
in Spain in Sept, all yesterdays Students will also be competiting in the
TAGB Nothern Ireland Championships on June 24th.

On the 27/May/06 the GST Black Belt grading's were held
in Clonakilty West Cork by Master Dave Oliver (President Tae Kwon-Do International)
this was the 1st time ever the exams were held in West Cork. All Students
preformed excellently and are currently awaiting their results. More info

Yesterday was the last Preliminary Grading for those
going for Black Belt promotion next Saturday. The examiner for the Grading's
will be Master D.K. Oliver (President of TKD International/ Chairman of T.A.G.B)
Students will arrive in West Cork next week for a light training session before
the exam begins in the afternoon. Again good luck too all.

Yesterday (14/may/06) was the 2nd last Squad training
session before the big day which takes place on the 27th/may/06, all 50+ students
got together again this time in West Cork. The day started at 11am with a
Class that lasted until 1pm concentrating on Patterns and One Step Sparring.
A half for lunch then another class which lasted just over an hour concentrating
on Semi Free and Free Sparring. Another small break then
Preliminary Grading No.2 off 3 begun. Congratulations to all for your dedication
& perseverance.

Over 100 Students have been training @ GST Squad Training
every Sunday morning under Mr. Brian Buckley and under Mr. Dan O'Mahony in
West Cork, some training for upcoming Competitons and the rest for Black Belt

GST / TII
returned home from Swizterland on Monday the 10th April '06 after being there
for 4 days (6th -10th April), one of which (Sat 8th April) was spent at the
Tae Kwon-Do International European Championships. Over 500 Competitors from
around the World attended including Master Pedro Florindo's team from Tae
Kwon-Do International Argentina. GST brought a total of 51 people with them
including 28 competitorsfrom GST Cobh - Lisgoold - Fermoy - Clonakilty and
Skibbereen,arriving home with 10 trophy's! Also GST had the youngest competitor
at the Championships, Jason Histon from Cobh who is only 4 yrs old, Jason
enjoyed great admiration from all competitors and officials at the championships!
Well done to all, and thank you for a great Trip!

GST Black Belt Awards Night took place on the 11th/March/'06
in Rushbrooke Hotel Cobh.
Over 150 people attended, the night started with the Presentation of Black
Belt Certificates ranging from 1st Dan - 4th Dan, 3 of GST's International
Competitors were awarded for the constent Achievements. All enjoyed a beautiful
Meal followed by a Disco.Congradultaions to all!

GST West Cork Tae Kwon-Do Championships was on Sunday
26th Febuary '06 in Darrara
College Convention Centre, Clonakilty. Click below for
pictures, results will be put up Tomorrow. A great day was had by all the
255 Competitors. The competition ran like Clockwork, 6 Rings rang continuously.
The Competition started at 10am and every one was out for 2.30pm, thanks to
all the Umpires and Officials!

GST Riverstown and Knockraha do their 1st Grading, Just
2 of the many new GST Clubs to do their 1st Grading recently as GST continues
to grow and grow. Students enjoyed the day and examiner Mr. H. Steel said

GST Black Belt Preperation / Squad Training
a huge success again in 06..... Only 4 weeks back Squad Training and GST has
already got 100+ registered Students for Black Belt Preperation / Squad Training,
these Students travel for all over Cork and Waterford to attend Squad sessions
every Sunday Morning aswell as attending their GST Tae Kwon-Do classes during
the week in their area.Classes are held in East and West Cork by Mr. Brian
Buckley and Mr. O'Mahony, Students are currenlty training for Black Belt Promotion
Gradings which will be held by Master Dave Oliver (President Tae Kwon-Do International)
in May '06 and Students are also training for upcoming National & International
Competitions especilly the European Tae Kwon-Do Championships on the 8th April
in Davos Switzerland.
